1. What Orbnit is for
Orbnit is a place to write diaries and to share parts of your life with people you choose — sometimes the whole community, sometimes only friends, sometimes just yourself.Orbnit is built to be a calm, quiet space. These guidelines are the rules that keep it that way. They apply to everyone, in every country, even if local culture or law allows something here that is not allowed somewhere else. These guidelines work alongside the Terms of Service. If you break them, your post is hidden or your account is suspended.
2. What we don't allow
Our AI moderation (Google Gemini) and our team review these categories. Some are never allowed under any circumstance. Others depend on context."Malicious" content (intentional harm) — never allowed2.1 Harassment2.2 Hate speech2.3 Sexual content involving minors2.4 Threats of violence2.5 Encouraging self-harm2.6 Terrorism and extremism2.7 Doxing and privacy violation2.8 Spam2.9 Scams and fraud2.10 Illegal goods and services2.11 Profanity and vulgar language"Harmful" content (depends on context) — usually blocked2.12 Adult sexual content2.13 Graphic violence and gore2.14 Self-harm imagery2.15 Drug use2.16 Child endangerment2.17 Misinformation about safety
3. How moderation works (and AI transparency)
We use Google Gemini to review new content automatically before it appears to others.
•
What gets reviewed: text, images, and video in public and friends-only posts and comments, plus profile images and book covers. Private diaries and direct messages are not auto-reviewed.
•
How it decides: Gemini assigns each piece of content a category and a confidence score. "Malicious" categories are blocked on detection; "harmful" categories are blocked above a confidence threshold.
•
You can always appeal: every block states the category, and the blocked content carries an in-app review request — see Section 6 for the full appeal channels.
•
If the review system fails (for example, a provider outage), your post is held unpublished — visible only to you, with a retry option — rather than published unchecked. If we ever deliberately switch automatic review off for operational reasons, new posts may appear before a check and are reviewed after the fact.
EU users under the Digital Services Act: when we block your content, you receive a clear statement of reasons including (1) the category, (2) the rule, (3) the fact that AI was used, and (4) how to appeal. This meets DSA Art. 17.EU AI Act: we disclose that AI is involved in moderation decisions. Human review is available on request.
4. Reporting other people's posts
If you see something that breaks these rules, report it. Tap the menu, then Report on any diary, comment, profile, or book. You can choose one of five reasons: Spam, Harassment, Hate speech, Inappropriate, or Other (with a short explanation). Your reason — including anything you write — is passed to the AI reviewer as context. What happens next: 1. The reported content is re-checked by our AI, using your report as context. 2. Diaries and comments found in violation can be hidden automatically. Profiles and books are never actioned by AI alone — a person makes the final call on those, and on any case the AI cannot decide. A report the AI dismisses is also escalated to a person once enough separate reporters flag the same content. 3. If your report leads to action, you are notified. 4. Under DSA Art. 16, reports go through this notice-and-action process; if you disagree with how your report was handled, contact cto@orbnit.com.We act fastest on child-safety content: it is blocked and quarantined the moment it is detected, whatever the review stage.
5. Blocking and friends
The following controls let you manage who can reach you:
•
Block: one-way. The other person cannot see your profile, posts, or messages. They are not told they were blocked. You do not see them either (mutual hiding). Blocking someone who was your friend also removes the friendship, and unblocking does not restore it.
•
Friends: two-way — both people must accept. Friend requests expire after 30 days; if someone declines your request, you can ask that person again after a 7-day cooldown.
6. Consequences for breaking the rules
Enforcement is proportional to the violation:
1.
A violation: the content is hidden, and you are notified of the reason.
2.
Repeat or serious violations: account suspension. A suspension has no preset length — it lasts until it is lifted on review, and you receive an in-app notification when it is.
3.
Severe or persistent abuse: the suspension is made permanent. The decision is reviewable on appeal.
4.
Illegal content (especially involving minors): the content is blocked immediately, and account action and reporting to the authorities follow, as the law requires.
You can always appeal a moderation decision with the in-app review request on the blocked content itself; appeals of a decision about your own content are handled there, and anything else goes to cto@orbnit.com. Under DSA Art. 20, EU users have a free internal complaint-handling process. After that internal procedure, EU users may refer a dispute to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under DSA Art. 21; that body's decisions are not binding. Our electronic point of contact under DSA Art. 11 and Art. 12 is cto@orbnit.com.
7. Minors
We have special rules to protect users who are minors:
•
The minimum age to use Orbnit varies by country, and the full protection-of-minors rules are in the Terms of Service, Section 3.
•
Content sexualizing or endangering minors is blocked, quarantined, and reported as Section 2.3 describes.
•
Messaging always requires an accepted friend connection — for every user — so adult strangers cannot send unsolicited messages to minors.
